Lessons from True Marketing Geniuses (and Applying it to Real Estate)

Like many of real estate professionals, I’m a real live marketing geek that is a perpetual student of the “latest and greatest” in what really and truly works to capture the hearts, minds and wallets of consumers everywhere. So today I found a great link to the top 10 viral ads of all time as reported by Advertising Age. It came as no surprise to me that the ubiquitous Old Spice guy took two of the top 10 spots. Although I’m not really a fan of the character (or the product for that matter) what the company’s marketing geniuses have done is nothing short of miraculous to do CPR on an old school brand and revive its market share to some impressive numbers.

Last year, the marketing geniuses at Evian came up with a truly world class marketing promotion “Live Young” in which “babies execute ambitious rollerskate moves to a remix of the Sugarhill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight in this ad demonstrating the ability of Evian mineral water to ‘preserve your body’s youth’. The spot is called ‘Rollerbabies’ (source: Guardian UK). If you have not seen it, click here.

So what’s this all mean to the business of marketing yourself and selling real estate?
