A Season For Giving at MRIS

December 20, 2011  |  by Anne

Tis the season to be giving! Special thanks to all the MRIS employees who have donated time, toys and more to help those in need.  Here’s a recap of what we have been up to this holiday season:

  • Toys for Tots Foundation
So far, we have collected 239 toys and over $1,200 in cash donations.  This is MRIS’s 11th year working with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and we look forward to it every year.
  • Manna Food Center
MRIS volunteers worked at the Manna Food Center to help with an organization that is committed to fighting hunger in Montgomery County.  We were kept busy sorting, organizing (pees on one shelf, corn on the other!) and boxing canned food for families this holiday season.
  • Community Ministries of Rockville
A handful of MRIS employees wrapped gifts (almost 200 of them!) for vulnerable Montgomery County residents and families.
  • Montgomery County Public Schools
Did you know that 31 percent of public school students qualify for free or reduced lunch, an indicator of poverty? MRIS is helping by donating back packs and other school supplies for Montgomery County students.  Over 600 school items have been collected so far!

Here are some photos of our holiday help in action!

This is a super effort. Congrats and thanks to a great team! Jeffrey, are you and Garo thinking about taking those canned goods with you?

When we make more, we aught to give more back to the community that has been so kind. Great Job to the entire crew at MRIS.
