Bright Ideas: Customer-Driven Product Development

April 12, 2012  |  by Kirk

When MRIS creates products, we strive to make sure it’s all about you, the customer. Everything starts with your requests. When deciding on where to focus our efforts, we use the feedback you’ve given us through the surveys you fill out, the feedback emails you submit, and the discussions you have with MRIS staff members. From there, the MRIS product management team personally contacts some customers to make sure we fully understand the desired outcome. Once the first cut of the product development is complete, we go back to those customers and gather feedback. We take their suggestions and tweak the product to match those suggestions. This process often happens many times with the ultimate goal being a validation from those customers saying, “Yes, you’ve got it!”

Soon, you’ll see the new Keystone Landing Page. Many customers donated countless hours to that effort and I’m confident you’ll find that the product changes are truly beneficial. I’d like to thank all of our customers who have given their time and effort to help us make the MRIS products better.

Kirk, thanks for the good post and, most of all, many thanks to the countless list of MRIS customers who offer valuable suggestions and feedback (and direction) to the product team. We have the best innovation team in the USA for a reason — we listen and adapt in real time to the market and launch products like the Landing Page, to meet and exceed customer requirements. Great work team! Now let's get busy to develop more innovations! :) John

I'm glad that you all are looking for suggestions. Is there a published list of 1) requested features/ideas and 2) features in development?

Hello Andy, Thank you for your question. There is not a published list of either requests or features in development. However, I can tell you that the top items requested and that we are working on involve improvements to Keystone and involve a new mobile product. We are also working on a system that allows you to easily create marketing materials for listings and a system that assists you in the showing request process. You will see these releases this summer and continuing on throughout the year. Stay tuned to this blog for additional information as it becomes available. Thanks again for the question. Kirk

Why is there no published list of (articulated) feature requests. It seems like all subscribers would appreciate that and it would reduce debacles like Showing Assist and help MRIS to wisely direct resources. Dropbox has a great model for this as does Chordiant (in a different way).
