Internet usage in America has grown exponentially in the last few years. Survey results published by Harris Interactive suggest that adult Internet users are now spending an average of 13 hours a week online. About 14% spends 24 or more hours a week online while 20% of adult Internet users are online for only two hours or less a week. I myself probably spend closer to 50 hours a week online. It’s not hard to get to 50 hours with Social Media, Online Games, Shopping, Fantasy Football, and of course working. What am I doing when I’m not online? I’m watching TV. On average adults spend another 1-3 hours per day watching TV. I spend considerable more time than that, especially during football season. Today we are no longer limited to just a couple of channels. I have almost 400 channels and many of them are high definition. If that’s not enough I can always get online and watch a movie. Considering all of this it’s not surprising that more and more buyers are requesting homes that have Fiber Optics available, or better yet are wired directly to the house. Fiber Optics can sustain the average Americans increasing usage rate of high speed fun, and can be used as a fantastic selling point for any home. So, to help fill this need, MRIS has added two new fields.
- Fiber Optics Available – wired to the node in the community at which point it becomes “Fiber Optics Available”.
- Fiber Optic at Dwelling – homeowners can purchase the service that will complete the fiber optic wiring from the node to the house, making “Fiber Optics at the dwelling”.
Both choices are available in the TV/Cable/Comm picklist, the HOA/Condo/Coop Fee Incl picklist, and the Rent Includes picklist.
Use the Fiber Optics availability as just one more feature to sell your amazing house!
