Home Ownership Slips Throughout Most Of The Country

House for SaleA new report out by the Census Bureau shows that home ownership rates fell by 1.7% during 2010-2012, bringing the country-wide rate to 64.7%. Regionally, the biggest decline was in Arizona’s Maricopa County (at 4.7 percentage points) and the smallest was New York’s West Chester Country (0.4 percentage point).

Washington D.C. showed a small decrease, but already it has the lowest home ownership rate in the country at 41.6%. West Virginia has the highest at 72.9% (it also has the lowest median home value of $98,300).
