Housing Affordability Just Below Incomes For Washington Area

October 30, 2013  |  by Ellen

Housing AffordabilityA new study out by the website Interest.com looked at the discrepancy between median house prices and the median incomes required to buy them for the largest metro areas and DC comes in just under the break even point.

As Washington Business Journal reports, incomes are 3% higher than house payments, according to the study. This is a drastic narrowing compared to just one year ago when the margin was 14%. Of course, it is better than cities such as San Francisco where house prices are higher than the median incomes in the area but not as good as Atlanta where homes are priced 25% lower than what the population earns.
