Matrix Monday Tip: Sometimes Less is More!

May 23, 2011  |  by Anne

Are you often frustrated by clicking “search” and seeing that you don’t have any returned search results? Try “Less is More” as a new rule of thumb! The less search criteria you enter into Matrix, the more listings you will get. Adversely, the more criteria you enter, the less listings you get.

Matrix can be as specific or as broad as you want it to be, which means if you start off too specific, you might not be getting the number of returned listings that you’d like.  For a quick fix, just take away some criteria – one at a time. Ah – how this plays perfectly into my previous post titled “Count, Before you Search!” Counting helps you save time by seeing the number of search results before actually seeing the results.  Sp, update one criteria at a time, press count, and see if you are happy with the number of returned searches.

How Less is More: Try incorporating + and – instead of a specific range for bedroom, bathrooms or even list price – you’re search results will sure to go up!
