EASTON The Mid-Shore Board of REALTORS® recently donated $1,200 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in Caroline, Dorchester and Talbot counties.
The board selected Toys for Tots as one of its charities in response to the increased need in the three counties.
“With so many families struggling, the Realtors want to make sure all children have something special this time of the year,” said Val Brown, president of the Mid-Shore Board of Realtors. “And Toys for Tots is excellent at distributing toys in our communities.”
The Marine Toys for Tots program collects new toys and distributes them at Christmas to needy children in the community, providing a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters and allowing them to experience the joy of Christmas, according to a press release from the Mid-Shore Board of Realtors.
Sgt. Greg Manning serves as the Marine Toys for Tots coordinator for Talbot and Caroline counties, and plans to use the funds donated by the Mid-Shore Board of Realtors to purchase stocking stuffers, board games and various toys to be distributed to more than 250 families.
The Dorchester County Marine Toys for Tots representative, Sgt. Ed Hearthway, said the money will be spent locally, with the gifts being donated to the Salvation Army in Cambridge.
More than 100 families in Dorchester County will receive toys to make their holiday season brighter, according to the press release.
