I recently participated on a panel discussion at the World Business Process / Information Technology Forum in New York City with the CIOs of NASA and Conde Naste. The topic for the panel was: “Key Challenges for Global Sourcing: Integrating Enterprise IT to Leverage Mobility; Cloud Computing and Social Networking”.
After some fascinating panel discussions, I wanted to share with you a few helpful insights from the day:
• Cloud computing has transitioned from the marketing hype to operating reality for many firms. This technology trend promises organizations the ability to improve their time to market, innovation and cost effectiveness. As an example, the CTO at NASA is consolidating data centers and beginning the transition to cloud-based computing to increase efficiency and reduce costs. MRIS is also leading the way with cloud-based solutions with the implementation of our new customer relationship management system (you’ll be hearing a lot more on this in the coming months) and we’re planning for even more solutions to be deployed in 2013-2015.
• Mobile solutions are moving to the forefront and becoming a greater priority more organizations. Organizations are planning to devote more funds to mobile solutions in 2013 budgets. A technology shift occurred at the end of 2010 when smartphones and tablet sales exceeded personal computer sales for the first time. I wrote about this mobility trend on our blog earlier this year. While Apple is the current market share leader with the iPhone and iPad, recent announcements from Microsoft and Google offer the promise of serious competition in the tablet market later this year. MRIS will be providing industry-leading mobile solutions later this summer to brokers and agents with the launch of our mobile application that will work on leading mobile devices including iPhones, Android phones, iPads and Blackberry.
We’re staying busy with a lot of enhancements, so stay tuned for more information to come!
