Mark your calendars and join the Race to End Homelessness. Saturday, November 23rd, at 8:00 am, MRIS will once again sponsor the annual Carpenter’s Shelter Run for Shelter 10K in Alexandria, VA.
Started back in April of 2012, the event is dedicated to contributing support to Carpenter’s Shelter – Northern Virginia’s largest homeless shelter – in an effort to raise money and awareness for the nearly 12,000 homeless people in the DC Metropolitan area.
Carpenter’s Shelter’s mission is to end and prevent homelessness through services, education, and advocacy. Each year Carpenter’s Shelter serves over 1,000 homeless and formerly homeless individuals and families, providing much more than just a roof to live under. Carpenter’s Shelter works with each resident to create an individualized action plan to get them back on their feet and into permanent housing.
