Real Estate Agents Share Last Minute Deal Breakers

July 7, 2016  |  by Ellen

dreamstime_xs_8566638There’s an article over on Inman Select that has real estate agents discussing the many different reasons why they have had a sale get so close to being finalized, but at the last minute something happens and the deal gets called off.

A few of them stand as cautionary tales that could happen to any deal, but there are a few that just seem to come out of nowhere. The newlyweds that returned from their honeymoon only to annul their marriage and cancel the house offer or the buyers who let their kids have a tremendous amount of input on the decision are just two examples, but there are plenty more to read through.

Have you ever had a frustrating last-minute deal breaker? Let us know about it in the comments.

  1. Dede Burrell says:

Two years ago I had a listing under contract and was being told that everything was going along just great. We were scheduled to settle August 1st–the sellers (7.5 months pregnant wife) put all their things in storage in preparation to settle Friday–Thursday we are told that the buyer has lost his job and cannot settle. What we found out was that the buyer had been fired on July 14th and didn't tell anybody–just thinking about it makes me mad all over again.
