We’re getting ready to roll out some exciting new ways for real estate agents to access our market stats with our launch of SmartCharts**, but before we pull back the curtain on the final product we found a few fascinating stats to share.
First up, we noticed a certain Bethesda zip code was absolutely on fire last month when it came to selling price. Any guesses as to which one it is? If you guessed the 20814, or the zip code which includes the National Institutes of Health, then you are right on the money. Let’s take a look at the specifics:
For this part of Bethesda the average selling price for May 2014 was $782,908 which beats the five year average by almost $83,000.
When compared to the neighboring 20816 (which stretches west from Western Avenue to Glen Echo Park), the price jump is about $53,000.
Interestingly, the other zip code in Bethesda (20817) saw a decrease last month when compared to the five year average.
However, it isn’t a consistent downward trend. Check out this graph of the past five years which shows the average sales price by month. A fair few of them beat the five year average of $910,557.
